I can’t say enough about the excellent service that Corey Schuler provided me when I needed to select a new Medicare Supplemental plan due to relocating from California to Texas. I reached out to her via her email which I found listed on my Google search. She immediately responded the same day, asked for my requirements and by the next day, she provided me with multiple options all that met my needs. She was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. We did a phone interview the next day after I had selected my plan and she electronically submitted my application to the Carrier I had selected. My new Carrier called the next day, finalized my acceptance and my new plan and coverage will be effective next month. I really appreciate the knowledge, responsiveness and support Corey provided me from the beginning to the end of this process. I highly recommend her Services!

Q&A with Corey Schuler

What questions should a first-time life insurance buyer ask their agent?

Answer: I think it's important to ask your agent how many companies they represent. If you are using an agent who represents only one company, you cannot easily compare all your options. Another important question to ask would be how many years they have been helping people with life insurance. You want someone with some experience under their belt who has helped many families during their tenure.

What is the most common mistake people make when buying life insurance?

Answer: I believe the most common mistake that people make when buying life insurance is not shopping around. When you only talk with one agent, they may not represent all the companies that best fit your underwriting profile and budget. You ideally want to work with someone who has experience helping others similar to you, or who has the ability to accurately quote you, and not just give you a low ball quote to get an application from you.

How do you help a client decide between term and whole life insurance?

Answer: I think presenting both options with accurate quotes will ultimately help the client decide whether to move forward with whole life, term, or a little bit of both. You can not accurately assess the situation until you have been provided with actual numbers to analyze.

Should a stay-at-home parent have life insurance?

Answer: Absolutely! Just because they are not earning a paycheck, that does not mean the duties that they are performing daily are not valuable. Imagine having to pay someone for child care, transportation, cooking the meals, all of the jobs that would need to be filled in their absence. It adds up very quickly. Most companies will allow the stay-at-home parent to purchase an amount equal to or less than that of the working spouse.
