Q&A with Eizel Mere

What is the difference between a beneficiary and a contingent beneficiary?

Answer: Hello, that is a good question. A Beneficiary is a person or institution that receives death benefit in a policy. A contingent beneficiary is a substitute in case the beneficiary dies first or at the same time as the insured. If there is only one beneficiary a contingent is 100% recommended.

What questions should a first-time life insurance buyer ask their agent?

Answer: This is my life story, medical history, my goals and what is important for me, what type of life insurance do you recommend for me based on my needs?

Every case is different and if the agent does not know you they do not have all the information to meet your needs and you wont have all the information as to what is available.

How much does a $1 million life insurance policy cost?

Answer: It depends on the type of life insurance, your age and health, and company. Life insurance is not a car, quotes are individually based.

Can I name multiple beneficiaries on my life insurance policy?

Answer: Yes you can. You can add beneficiaries and a specific percentage each will receive. If you only have one it is encouraged to add atleast one contingent beneficiary.
