Can I reinstate a lapsed life insurance policy?

Answered by 4 licensed agents

Yes you can reinstate a policy but you do have a time frame. Depending on the carrier you have between 30 and 60 days to reinstate. If it does not happen within that time frame you will have to go through underwriting again and purchase a new policy.

Yes, you can usually reinstate a lapsed life insurance policy. The core requirements involve paying past-due amounts, proving you are still healthy, and meeting specific time limits.

Yes you can reinstate a lapse insurance policy.

Reinstatement allows you to keep the same premiums. The insurance company may ask you to complete a “Statement of Health” form depending on how long the policy has lapsed.

You’ll need to pay all missed payments to catch the policy up.

Reinstatements are subject to underwriting approval.

If your policy has lapsed for a long period of time, check to see if it’s less expensive to start a new policy or reinstate your current policy. It will depend if your health has gotten better or worse.

The company will have a no lapse rider, and a reinstatement period, but non -payment after a certain time still has to be discussed and agreed upon. Short answer yes, but it might take a call or two.
