How do I switch to a different life insurance agent without changing my policy?

Answered by 3 licensed agents

Sorry, you won't be able to do that unless you drop the policy and find a new agent. Your insurance is only as good as the agent you trust. If he dies and you become an orphan you can call the carrier and ask them to provide a new agent of record, or if the agent you like is appointed with the carrier your with he can request to become the new agent of record.

If you'd like to change agents but not policies (or carriers), you would need to check with the carrier themselves to learn the best method.

Generally, you would find a licensed agent that is contracted with the carrier that has your policy and ask them to complete an Agent of Record change. You'll need to provide your name and policy number and that agent can then determine how to obtain and submit that.

Find an agent that you like and that can be done. You will need to request an agent of record change. Find a good local broker and they should be able to handle this for you.
