While smoker rates create a higher monthly premium, the answer to that question is yes. However, if life insurance has been underwritten based on a smoker's rate, you would need to contact the life insurance company and make them aware you've stopped smoking and you would like to be rewritten as a nonsmoker. At which time you would have to be underwritten again to determine what your new premium would be.
