How do you become a licensed life insurance agent, and what does the first year really look like?

Answered by 2 licensed agents

You have to find a carrier or an FMO to help you jump through all the hoops and once licensed and appointed you can go beat the bushes. Selling life insurance is not for the faint of heart. Many try and many are gone in a few short months. You have to pay your dues and find a good mentor.

Broker Licensed in CA

Answered by Jack Mayer Life Insurance Agent
Well, you need to research and find out what licenses are required in you state and meet that need along with education that is tied to it. The first year can look different for each Agent depending on whether you become an employee or a Contracted Agent. Contracted Agents have more flexibility when it comes to the products and services they offer. The first year is going to consist of you learning the products and identifying what area with in the insurance industry you want to focus on.
